“Looking back explores the longing of human connection through expression. The viewer feels both seen and unseen as they gaze upon the familiar sight of the eye. The nuanced mark making and erasure in the drawing creates both a sense of familiarity and disconnect.”

Karsha Barwick is a Tasmanian artist whose current practice revolves around studies and the teaching of art. Her mixed media artworks explore the concepts of nostalgia and familiarity with dissonance to the imagery. She intends to create an ongoing discourse about how objects and the everyday can seem so familiar, yet be so disconnected from our perceptions and lives.
