This art piece, derived from the body of work entitled Vessels of a Breathing Place, delves into the journey of exploring place, allowing me, as an artist, to experience the Tamar Wetlands. Each circular image offers a distinct world, inviting exploration and capturing fleeting moments in both time and space, guiding me along a path of self-discovery. This space for observation, akin to arranging the myriad facets of the ecosystem within a delicate petri dish, births a fresh perspective through which to behold them. It presents a means to contemplate scale, the intricate dance between science and nature, and the transformative processes of recognition and assessment.

Grace Summers is a 20-year-old visual artist based in Lutruwita (Tasmania), currently engaged in her studies for a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Photography.

Her practice is deeply anchored in a continuous journey of self-discovery, characterised by intentional engagement with the natural world, the significance of specific locations, and the rich, diverse cultural backgrounds. Through this exploration, she seeks to uncover deeper meanings and connections that inform her understanding of herself and her art.
