Gabbee Stolp is a visual artist based in Lutruwita/Tasmania,
Australia.
Gabbee’s practice exists across several mediums with a primary
focus on contemporary jewellery, object-making and textiles. Her
work examines material, memory and place, evoking biological and
metaphysical themes including grief, loss and human-induced
extinction.
Gabbee creates gentle tools with which to reflect on time and
change and the way our human lives are invariably connected to
the deep history and ecology of the places we live.
Gabbee predominately makes her work utilising the act of sewing, a
gesture she considers to be both nurturing and restorative. With this
gesture she aims to provide a reminder of the strength and the
value of human tenderness and the depth and vulnerability of our
more-than-human world.
Gabbee holds a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts), with First Class
Honours, from RMIT University, where her main studio area was
Object Based Practice/Gold and Silversmithing. She has exhibited
widely in Australia and abroad, in solo and group exhibitions.
Gabbee is a finalist in Contemporary Wearables, 2025 and
the MAKE Award: Biennial Prize for Innovation in Australian Craft
and Design, 2025.
