11 Day Roadtrip (2025)
ceramics
43 x 21 x 14 cm
This piece is part of "11 Day Roadtrip" series, a reflection and a memory of fleeting moments travelling through Tasmania’s diverse landscapes. The imagery evokes one single summer day spent relaxing at Mt Field National Park. Through this work, I explore a personal journey—an attempt to reconnect with and rediscover the beauty of Tasmania.
Mia is a multidisciplinary artist and maker whose work spans across ceramics, textiles, painting and printmaking. Originally from Finland, she now lives and works in Launceston. She is currently studying at UTAS, School of Creative Arts, Inveresk.
Her practice is grounded in experiences of travel and encounters with the natural world. Working with clay, ink and mixed media, Mia explores the dialogue between human hands and organic forms. Her works honor both materiality and the sense of place.
Informed by her own journey of migration, her work reflects a search for belonging, connection, and continuity across shifting environments. Each piece embodies an act of attentive making and celebrates the quiet poetry of everyday forms found in nature.
