With this work I have taken inspiration from artist that have used extended exposure or multiple exposures in their work. The Artists that I have taken inspiration from are Eadweard Muybridge, Gjon Milli and Alexey Titarenko. The photographs that I created give a sense of the ethereal, or the suggestion of the movement of the flames in a fire, or the movement of the waves of the sea lit by coloured light. The triptych that I chose for the key image of my work exemplifies the creation of this work.
I first started my journey in the Photographic art field studying photography at Launceston College under Greg Waddle in the late 1980’s and I then continued onto the University of Tasmania learning from Christal Berg. During this time, I worked in the medium of Black and White film photography where I was experimented with different ways of processing the film to produce unique results in the negatives that resulted from the process. I have returned to study at the University of Tasmania which has given me a renewed passion for the photographic medium. This has contributed to a rebirth of my art and the type of work that I am making, and the joy that is to create works that are more experimental in nature which these works are an example of. The ability to present my work here at the fundraiser is an honour to support our local arts community.
