Chee Yong is a visual artist currently interested in the ambiguities of mark making in abstract and representative paintings. His art references and reimagines the visual language of past Chinese paintings in the current social and political climate. Yong also has a lesser-known conceptual and sculptural art practice that approximate the complexities of biology and physiology from a different perspective.
He has been exhibiting since 2011 and has been included in the Albany Art Prize (2014, 2016), John Leslie Art Prize (2014, 2016), Glover Prize (2013, 2015, 2018), Kyneton Art Triennial (2018) and Wynne Prize (2017). He lives and works in Launceston.
